Adulting 101

Adulting 101 is a practical, skills-based group designed to support teens and young adults as they navigate real-world responsibilities, relationships, and independence. This group provides explicit instruction, guided discussion, and hands-on practice in the everyday skills needed for success at home, work, and in the community.


Sessions are structured, supportive, and interactive—helping participants build confidence while learning how to plan, problem-solve, communicate effectively, and make safe, informed decisions.


Skill Areas Addressed Include:

Executive Functioning & Self-Management

Participants work through guided activities targeting:

  • Planning and organization
  • Time management and task initiation
  • Problem-solving and flexibility
  • Working memory and self-monitoring
  • Emotional regulation and impulse control


Online Safety

  • Safe and appropriate online communication
  • Social media awareness and boundaries
  • Decision-making related to digital interactions


Dating, Relationships & Sex Education

Using clear, respectful, and age-appropriate instruction, participants learn about:

  • Different types of relationships and communication styles
  • Moving from friendships to dating
  • Healthy vs. unhealthy relationships
  • Boundaries, consent, and decision-making
  • Sexual health, body awareness, and personal safety
  • Addressing challenges, mistakes, and real-world scenarios


Community & Independence Skills

  • Identifying and using community resources
  • Navigating public transportation


Employment & Workplace Skills

  • Finding and keeping a job
  • Overcoming common workplace challenges
  • Communication and decision-making at work
  • Building positive coworker relationships
  • Understanding healthy professional boundaries


Budgeting & Financial Literacy

  • Introduction to budgeting and money management
  • Understanding spending, saving, and financial responsibility


Adulting 101 is ideal for individuals who benefit from explicit teaching, real-life practice, and supportive coaching as they work toward greater independence. The group emphasizes growth, self-confidence, and practical skills that carry over into everyday life.


Location: Innovative's Collaboration Station

Day & Time: High School ages Mondays & Wednesdays @ 4:00 pm; Adults Mondays & Wednesdays @ 1:30 pm

Class Length: 1 Hour

Cost & Commitment

  • Weekly Rate: $50 per week
  • 4-Class Pass: $90 (save $10)
  • Scholarships: Accepted
  • Payment: Due at the time of registration
